{"id":7000,"date":"2012-10-28T22:00:56","date_gmt":"2012-10-28T12:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nickin.space\/?p=7000"},"modified":"2018-03-10T16:52:04","modified_gmt":"2018-03-10T06:52:04","slug":"dvd-shelves-finished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/index.php\/dvd-shelves-finished\/","title":{"rendered":"DVD SHELVES &#8211; FINISHED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finished!<br \/>\nI should have done this post first!\u00a0 although I don\u2019t think that it works that way &#x1f641;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6821 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/EmptyShelvesAgainstWall.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/EmptyShelvesAgainstWall.png 252w, https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/EmptyShelvesAgainstWall-210x300.png 210w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/>Well, you\u2019ve finished your DVD shelves and you go to move them and remember that they are made of 3 very large sheets of 18mm MDF.\u00a0 crap.\u00a0 (yes, that is the technical term for this situation)<\/p>\n<p>Now you could call up a couple of your mates and tell them that you have free beer, but that won\u2019t make the shelves any lighter \u2013 But it will make your fridge lighter!.<\/p>\n<p><em>TIP: Get a Skateboard from your local cheap stuff shop.\u00a0 I got mine from KMart and it cost about AUD$12&#8230; cheapest trolley\u2026 EVER!.\u00a0 Your average skateboard turns up at the ends, so you will need to cut off the ends just before they start to turn up (obviously leaving the wheel areas in tact!).<br \/>\nPut a towel on top and there you have it\u2026 Easiest way to move your big ass shelves!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Well, above you can see an photo of the empty shelves, in place against the wall (yes, they actually exist! \u2013 not a render!).\u00a0 Below you can see what they look like finished.\u00a0 Finally a place to put all of my DVD\u2019s and BlueRays.<\/p>\n<p>Note how you can see the wall through the shelves\u2026 this idea definitely worked for me.\u00a0 The textured wall and the black shelves contrast well to make a striking feature wall in my lounge.\u00a0 But if you don\u2019t like it, or you actually WANTED to hide the wall, then simply use 3mm MDF over the whole back of the shelves!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6828 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/ShelvesInPlace256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/ShelvesInPlace256.png 256w, https:\/\/nick.garagespaceship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/ShelvesInPlace256-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can also see in the photo how the picture frames work well with the shelving and keep the theme going\u2026 and yes\u2026 There was a long debate over which movie posters would make the cut and get to the wall!<\/p>\n<p>Happy Movie Watching!<\/p>\n<p><!--themify_builder_static--><!--\/themify_builder_static--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Finished!
